过去两天，推送的《韦氏高阶英汉双解词典》相关内容，其中两个例句引起了大家的注意。 第一个reveler» The streets were crowded with revelers on New Years Eve. 除夕的大街上挤满了狂欢者。
原评：原版这里就有错，New Years Eve 应该为 New Year’s Eve ，双解版保留了这个错误。
再论：有朋友指出，这里“除夕”有问题，汉语里“除夕”一般特指中央电视台春节联欢晚会直播那会儿，英语里 New Year’s Eve 则是 12 月 31 日晚。我查了下其他词典，发现基本上都是把 New Year’s Eve 和“除夕”对应。 朗文当代高级英语辞典（英英·英汉双解）» There were a large number of DUI arrests on New Year’s Eve.

再评：有 3 位朋友指出我“他们逆向破解了这款软件”翻译有问题。我这里解释一下，我对信息安全工作略有了解，看雪、吾爱破解、乌云啥的也有（曾）混，但是我是真没听说过“倒序制作软件”这种说法，行话应该不这么讲。工业上的逆向，比如我们歼11 逆向苏-27，歼-15 逆向苏-33，或许可以称为倒序制作。 其实争议在于“破解”，由于你懂的原因，大众理解的破解，就是电子书解除 DRM 锁定，软件呢不用花钱买注册码序列号，keygen 或者替换、更改些文件，直接就能用 bla bla… 但是广义的（至少我理解的）“破解”还有探究背后原理的意思。 reverse engineer 按照 MWALED 的解释，并没有到“制作”这一步，这是说 reverse engineer 的下一步就是 make something that is like it 。 我觉得，其实简单翻译为“他们逆向了这款软件”也是可以的，不提“破解”。 现代汉语词典（第 3 版）破解

1. 解除。

2. 謂破敵解圍。

3. 詳細分析解釋。
▶杨朔《火并》：“人群本来是糊糊涂涂地聚在一起，现在，经耿仲芳的一番有力的破解，又起始涣散了。”
续：当然，我这里只是说一下我的看法，语言这个东西，有些虚，需要认真但又不必过分认真，我是这么觉得。你看，我大量地使用“我觉得”这个词组，由于知识多寡、经验差异甚至偏见，每个人的“觉得”后面跟的内容都是不同的。太不精确了，不如归去，不如归去，算算数学题。😌 其他词典鲜有将reverse engineer 列为词头的 。 英汉计算机技术大辞典，白英彩software reverse engineering
